The two main thermal printing methods serve different applications. Choosing the right one affects print life, supply cost, and how your labels hold up in the field.
No ribbon required. The label surface reacts to heat from the printhead to produce the image directly.
Best Suited For: Shipping labels, pick tickets, receiving labels, and short-lifecycle applications.
Requires a wax, wax-resin, or resin ribbon. The ribbon melts onto the label surface for a durable, long-lasting image.
Best Suited For: LPN labels, inventory tracking, product ID, and any label that needs to remain legible over weeks, months, or longer.
Our barcode labels — blank and custom-printed — are designed to run cleanly through the thermal printers most warehouses and operations already use.
Our labels are wound on 1" and 3" cores and sized for Zebra's full range — from desktop ZD-series units to industrial ZT-series and mobile ZQ-series printers.
Compatible with Datamax industrial and desktop label printers. Core and OD specifications match standard Datamax media requirements.
Designed to run through Intermec industrial and mobile thermal printers with consistent feed, clean cuts, and reliable print quality.
These are our standard configurations. Custom sizes, core diameters, and materials are available — just ask.

We respond within one business day. No commitment required.
Direct thermal labels use a heat-sensitive coating that reacts to the printhead directly — no ribbon required, which lowers supply costs. However, the print is more sensitive to heat, light, and abrasion over time. Thermal transfer labels require a ribbon (wax, wax-resin, or resin) to transfer the image, producing a more durable print suited for long-term identification. The right choice depends on how long the label needs to remain legible and the environment it lives in.
Both. For custom-printed orders, you supply the data file or sequence and we produce the labels to your exact specification. For blank stock, we supply label rolls ready to load into your thermal printer for on-demand printing. Some label types — like LPN labels — are almost always custom-printed, while others like shipping labels are commonly used as blank stock.
We stock labels on 1-inch and 3-inch cores. Most desktop thermal printers use a 1-inch core. Industrial printers typically accept both. Check your printer’s media specifications or tell us your printer model when you reach out and we’ll confirm the right core size for your unit.
Popular sizes include 4″×6″ (standard shipping), 4″×2″, 2″×1″, and 3″×1″. We also carry a full range of other sizes and can produce custom dimensions for applications where standard sizes do not fit. See our size pages or mention your required dimensions in the quote form.
We work with businesses of all sizes. For blank stock labels we carry standard roll quantities ready to ship. For custom-printed orders, quantities and minimums vary by label type. Reach out with your volume and we will find an option that works for your operation.
