Why It Matters

A mislabeled pallet costs more than the label itself.

Pallet labels are the foundation of warehouse traceability. Every pallet that moves through your facility — from receiving to storage to outbound shipping — relies on a readable, scannable label to tell your WMS exactly what it is and where it belongs.

When that label fails — because the barcode won’t scan, the print smudges, or the adhesive lifts off in the cold dock — the cost shows up immediately. Mispicks, delayed shipments, lost inventory, and WMS data errors all trace back to label quality.

LabelData has been producing pallet labels for warehouse and distribution operations since 1993. We print on thermal transfer paper with permanent adhesive — built to survive the full pallet lifecycle from the dock to the truck.

What a bad pallet label costs

Label failure shows up fast on the floor.

Label Types

Custom print or blank stock — we produce both.

Most pallet labeling operations use custom-printed labels produced from a data file or sequence. We also supply blank thermal transfer stock for operations that print on-demand in-house.

Custom Print

Printed Pallet Labels

Produced from your data file, sequence range, or LPN list. Each label is unique — sequential barcodes, pallet IDs, lot numbers, or any custom data format your WMS requires. Popular for high-volume distribution operations where labels need to be ready before the pallet hits the floor.

Blank Stock

Blank Pallet Label Rolls

If you have a thermal transfer printer on-site and produce pallet labels in-house, we supply blank label rolls in the sizes and core configurations your printer requires. Direct thermal options are also available for shorter-lifecycle applications.

Pallet Lifecycle

The label has to survive every step.

A pallet label is applied once and needs to remain readable through the entire handling lifecycle. That is why material and print quality matter.

Receiving

Label applied at dock —
scanned into WMS on arrival

Storage

Pallet stored — label
survives temperature,
humidity, handling

Picking

Scanned at location — must
read first pass, every time

Staging

Verified at staging area —
label still readable before
loading

Shipping

Final scan closes the loop — pallet departs facility

Delivery

Scanned on receipt —
confirms delivery at
destination

Common Questions

Frequently asked about pallet labels.

What is the difference between a pallet label and an LPN label?

An LPN (License Plate Number) label is a specific type of pallet label used in WMS-based operations. It carries a unique sequential identifier that the WMS uses to track a pallet or handling unit through its lifecycle. Pallet labels is the broader term — it covers any label applied to a pallet for identification, which may or may not be tied to a WMS. If your operation runs a WMS, you likely need LPN-format pallet labels. If you are doing basic pallet identification without a WMS, standard pallet barcode labels fit the need.

Yes. Supply your data file — Excel, CSV, or a sequence range — and we produce custom pallet labels to your exact specification. We also provide free sequence database maintenance, so reorders always pick up where the last batch ended with no duplicate label numbers.

The most common pallet label sizes are 4″×2″, 4″×6″, and 3″×1″. Custom sizes are available for operations with specific requirements. Tell us your label size in the quote form and we will confirm what we stock and what we can produce.

Yes. We carry white and popular pastel colors for pallet label applications. Many operations use color-coded labels to indicate warehouse zones, product categories, inbound vs. outbound flow, or rotation cycles. Mention your color requirements in the quote request.

We work with distribution centers and warehouses of all sizes. For blank stock we carry standard roll quantities. For custom-printed pallet labels, quantities and minimums vary. Reach out with your volume and we will find an option that works for your operation.
